Mens Sportswear Collaboration
My dissertation was to create a new concept for a mens sportswear collaboration ready to be released in timing for the 2012 Olympics.
'The ambition for the collaboration is to become the leading fashion sportswear of choice, based on product expertise, price and quality. An innovative menswear collaboration between Diesel and Adidas will bring a new edge to the fashion industry; bringing people from the sporting world and the high street fashion conscious together.'
My inspiration for the project was found through thorough research into the marketplace.
'Currently, there are no menswear high street retailers that offer this product and very few menswear and sportswear collaborations. Those existing collaborations are not sport specific and either contain functionality or fashionability, they do not combine the two qualities together in one garment.
This new concept was founded on the premise of combining these two fashion forward brands and creating a new sportswear collection merging functionality with fashionability.
Manufacturers of sporting goods see the Olympic Games as a global stage from which they can attract the attention of audiences worldwide by showcasing their products, it has become a very profitable area within the fashion industry.'
After graduating I am extremely keen to pursue a career in the field of menswear buying.
